He explained the current jump in the increase in cold weather cases. In summer, the virus is not as resistant to high temperatures.
Without committing to accurate forecasts, he believes now is the time to limit the spread so that it remains in the plateau area.
Professor Hristova so far does not see enough reasons to re-complete the lockdown of people in their homes. Still, he said, it would be difficult to stop the spread of the respiratory virus.
Regarding the situation of doctors at the moment, he insisted that our health care system is short of infectious diseases, and those on the front line are already at the limit of their strength.
During the eight months since the epidemic began, much research has been done, both to study the virus itself and to treat patients.
The vaccine will be the only safe solution to the problem, but it could not be ready before spring 2021, Professor Hristova is convinced.
