Second wave! Wales imposes a full quarantine for two weeks

A full quarantine for a little over two weeks will be introduced in Wales from Friday. Each of the components of the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – follows its own policy in the fight against Covid-19, recalls the BNR correspondent on the island.

Welsh Prime Minister Mark Drakeford announced the move, which calls for people to stay home and close pubs, restaurants and side shops:

“We know that if we do not act now, the pandemic will continue to gather momentum and there is a very real risk that our national health will be overwhelmed and hampered.”

Meetings of people outside the family circle at home and outside will also be prohibited.

Elementary schools will open after the week-long fall break, coinciding with the start of the quarantine. The lower grades of secondary education will also resume classes.

Universities in Wales will continue to seek a balance between classroom training and online classes.

The Welsh government has allocated a £ 300 million package to support businesses.

The quarantine will be in effect from October 23 to November 9. A similar quarantine has already been imposed in Northern Ireland, but for four weeks.

In England there is a three-degree local quarantine force scheme, which has caused much controversy. Some local leaders refuse to accept high-level quarantines in their municipalities.
