Plovdiv introduces stricter anti-epidemic measures and strengthens control over compliance with those in force. This is the third district after Targovishte and Blagoevgrad to toughen measures against the spread of the coronavirus due to increased morbidity. For large retail chains in the Plovdiv district, a limit of up to 100 customers per site at a time and a distance of 2 meters between those who wait is introduced, decided the regional headquarters against infection. In addition, mass inspections of public transport, shops and other indoor public places for the use of masks have been initiated. The district governor, Dani Kanazireva, commented that control is important to preserve the health system and the economy.
“We are 18 municipalities, and outside of Plovdiv we only have two hospitals, in Asenovgrad and Karlovo. From all other municipalities they come to Plovdiv. We cannot fill all the wards only with Covid patients.”, she said.
There are no more vacancies for coronavirus treatment at St. George’s University Hospital in Plovdiv. In other medical institutions there are a total of 98 free beds – 70 for moderate cases and 28 for intensive care.
Checks for the use of masks will be carried out not only on public transport, but also on trains, mainly in the direction Plovdiv – Asenovgrad.
The recommendation not to travel to Blagoevgrad and Bansko is maintained
On Monday, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov visited one of the two worst affected areas, Blagoevgrad, to discuss the organization of local hospitals with local authorities. Angelov announced that the recommendation not to travel to Blagoevgrad and Bansko is upheld.
According to him, the district has sufficient capacity to treat coronavirus patients: “The beds are enough, 49 beds are currently occupied. They are ready to open up to 66 and if necessary another 28 beds can be opened. We believe that we will satisfy the needs of the population of this area ”.

The Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate (SRHI) also reported intensified inspections for compliance with anti-epidemic measures. Since last Monday, October 12, 254 inspections have been carried out for compliance with anti-epidemic measures in closed public places, including sports facilities, gyms, large shopping centers (malls), swimming pools, children’s and educational institutions, administrative. buildings, office buildings, shopping and food production centers (restaurants, cafes, etc.) and nightclubs.
A total of 70 minutes have been drawn up for proven violations. From them 60 are visitors or employees in shopping centers and 6 – in nightclubs, discos.
Fandakova stepped up inspections
The mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, held a meeting of the operational headquarters of Sofia against the coronavirus and ordered the intensification of inspections for compliance with anti-epidemic measures in public places.
Employees of the Sofia Inspectorate, together with the district police departments, check whether they are wearing masks, keep their distance and disinfect the shops.
During Saturday and Sunday alone, the teams inspected 643 outlets, some of which were instructed to prevent people from gathering in stores and entering customers without security equipment.
Municipal police teams together with the Urban Mobility Center continue inspections in public land transport and the metro. At the insistence of the mayor of Sofia SDVR, they increase the teams that will help carry out inspections in public transport.
In the last week, 55 acts covered by the Health Law, 9 alert protocols and 1 police order in public transport have been drawn up for not wearing masks.
The new 18 died in one day
They have been in the country for the last 24 hours. 395 new cases of coronavirus registered during the last 24 hours, such as the proportion of positive samples is 25% of the 1581 tests performed.
Typically, most labs don’t work on Sundays, and people who are most likely to be infected are tested first. Another 18 people have died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths to 986.
The number of currently active cases reached 11,574. 16,943 were cured.
The hospital is already treating 1,500 people, about 300 more than at the beginning of last week.. There are 74 people in serious condition in intensive care units.
The largest number of new cases registered is in Sofia – 145, Sliven – 84, Targovishte-23, Blagoevgrad – 17, Gabrolo – 19, Shumen – 14, Plovdiv – 11, Montana – 10.
During the past 24 hours, another 19 infected doctors have been registered, bringing the total number of infected medical personnel to 1,551 since the start of the epidemic.
The home of Kachulka’s house is growing
One of the largest outbreaks in the country continues to grow: in Sliven’s “Kachulka” social home. During the last 24 hours, 84 positive samples were reported in the Home for Men and Women with Mental Retardation, which were collected over several days. With this infected residents become 135 out of a total of 200 household residents. The condition of the newly discovered is good, Sliven Mayor Stefan Radev told reporters. Results are expected from another 20 samples. One death of a woman older than 70 years with multiple diseases was recorded.
At the beginning of the explosion of the epidemic in the social institution, the entire staff of 113 people was examined with PCR tests, of which 23 nurses and paramedics and another 20 employees gave holocaust samples.
Treatment of infected personnel is carried out in home quarantine. Consumers are treated on-site, under the supervision of their GP.
Residents who test negative are isolated. At a meeting with the general practitioner in “Kachulka” in inspection the algorithm for treatment of sick users was specified. On October 20, a team from the Military Medical Academy will be at the institution to conduct a clinical assessment of his condition. According to the mayor, the nurses and hygienists are in full force, but three nurses are needed.
