The chairman of the Board of Directors of the second division Lokomotiv Gorna Oryahovitsa, Ivo Dimitrov, sent an open letter to the mayor of Gorna Oryahovitsa, as well as the municipal councilors, seeking financial support for the troubled club.

The extensive letter indicates that as a result of a series of irregularities in the management of the last months, the club has suffered serious damage to its public image in the face of advertisers and sponsors who have terminated their contractual relationships.

The text mentions that the club will probably have to finish the season with its teenagers due to the large hole that is being opened in the club’s budget.

Here is the full statement, without editorial intervention:

To the mayor of the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa, to the municipal council

Dear Eng. Dobrev, dear municipal councilors,

As a responsible person, emotionally and professionally linked to the destiny of OFK Lokomotiv, I consider it necessary and I inform you about the latest events and the possible consequences for the football club of the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa. On September 14, a periodic informational and electoral meeting of OFK Lokomotiv was held, which had to make responsible and correct decisions related to the management and development of football in our city. The delegates approved the financial report of the activity, after which they made known the Board of Directors of OFK Lokomotiv. A group of fans, registered as delegates in the last minutes, blamed the choice of a new direction, marred the meeting of the highest governing body and sent the club to institutional weightlessness. Club legends such as Angel Minchev and Tsenko Gavazov were insulted, accusing them of being behind the scenes and participating in predesigned scenarios about the election of a Board of Directors. The scandals preceded the General Assembly. Similarly, extremist supporters allowed themselves to insult and threaten footballer Radoslav Baichev inadmissibly. Saddened by the attitude, concerned for his health and that of his relatives, Baichev himself insisted on canceling his contract with the club and being released. All of this caused serious damage to the club’s image after the publications in the regional and national press. In recent months, the management has made great efforts to rehabilitate and financially stabilize the club. With the help of advertisers, sponsors, sponsors, and donors, public obligations to the NRA and the budget collapsed. Lokomotiv has proven to be a fair employer and payer, strictly adhering to its commitments to competition, staff, budget and suppliers. Actions were taken to collect accounts receivable in the amount of tens of thousands of levies. The club management actively worked for the construction of its own boarding school within the municipal vocational secondary school “Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov”. The events of the last few weeks have seriously compromised Lokomotiv’s public image and this is reflected in the relationships already established with advertisers and partners. Many of them have expressed their desire to terminate commercial and contractual relations with the club. In practice, there is a real danger that the club will not meet budget on its revenue share, become insolvent and insolvent. In this situation, we, the members of the management, refuse to work under dictation and with resignation. Some are even already considering actions for official removal by the Registration Agency. We believe it is appropriate for the City Council to rethink and review the financial support of the representative men’s team. The school and club desperately need two standard training grounds, at least one of which has an artificial surface. As head of the club in recent years, I believe that Lokomotiv can continue their participation in the championship mainly with teenagers and at least four players with professional status, so as not to jeopardize their professional license. The sports infrastructure is the basis on which we must build our concept for the development of football in Gorna Oryahovitsa. I believe that in his person, the Municipal management will rethink and fix the priorities regarding the organization and full operation of OFK Lokomotiv.

Yours sincerely, Ivo Dimitrov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OFK Lokomotiv
