Ventsislav Metodiev Mutafchiiski is a Bulgarian physician, officer, major general, and professor. He was born on 20, who received the honorary scientific title “Doctor Honoris Causa” from the Naval Superior School / VVMU /.
It was awarded by decision of the Academic Council of the Maritime Academy for its contribution to the development of education and medicine in our country, as well as for the implementation of the joint project between MMA, VVMU and the University of Medicine in the coastal town for training of military doctors.
Until now, the stock of military doctors was full of doctors from civilian university benches, but any additional military training these young men go through is not enough to train real officers, Mutafchiiski said.
According to him, the project in Varna overcomes this problem, especially considering that the specialists of the Military Medical Academy are constantly on missions abroad.
Currently, there are three: in Africa, Asia and the Balkans, Mutafchiiski explained. He added that military medics participating in missions require qualities that are difficult to develop in civilian universities: being strong, strong-willed, and resilient officers who can make quick decisions and stand firm regardless of challenges.
“The Varna Medical University is unique in our country because it is the only one that has a serious attitude towards the scourges of modern times such as terrorism and asymmetric threats,” Mutafchiiski added.
According to him, war has not been what we have seen in movies for a long time, but it is asymmetrical and that is why he is personally extremely satisfied with the MU program, which is updated every year.

Our responsibility to these young future military doctors is to do everything possible to meet their expectations, but the most important thing is to teach them to think, not to “sleep”, to be artists, Mutafchiiski said.
“The award to the director of the Military Medical Academy with the title of” Doctor Honoris Causa “is an absolutely deserved recognition, for a long time he has been known in the army as its chief physician and a wonderful specialist,” said the Defense Minister , Krassimir Karakachanov.

He recalled that within a year General Mutafchiiski managed to solve the problems with the obligations of the Academy and make a profit.
For his qualities as a manager and doctor, person, teacher, the title he receives today is only one of the recognitions that society owes him, Minister Karakachanov summarized.
