The shopping malls and shopping centers will be open from Monday, May 18. The order belongs to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and was reached after a conversation with representatives of the main points of sale. Health Minister Kiril Ananiev will have to formalize it with an order later today.

The prime minister’s decision comes just four days after Health Minister Kiril Ananiev announced that these sites would likely be the last to open as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus. However, there was a request from the company for a specific date for the complete drop of the ban. The shopping malls have been closed since the country’s emergency measures began, which went into effect on March 13. Until now, only grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and insurance offices, open restaurant areas in shopping malls were entitled to work. Recently, there is permission to open cinemas.

Operations. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski.

“We have been working on the issue with our colleagues in economics, healthcare and headquarters for the last 2 weeks with much discussion, with many medical arguments and we hope to solve the problems one by one. In many countries there is talk of loosening measurements”. commercial sites did not stop at all, “said the Prime Minister.

During the meeting, the conditions for resuming shopping center activities were discussed in detail. “The contribution of the industry to the Bulgarian economy was also highlighted, which poses the problem of restarting its activities,” the statement said.

However, it does not say exactly what the conditions will be for the opening of the shopping centers or what are the medical arguments to allow them to work again.

Borissov also noted that it is mandatory to continue observing the balance between the gradual restoration of normal economic life and the implementation of anti-epidemic measures to maximize the protection of the health of Bulgarian citizens, according to the government press service.

Therefore, one of the last sites to remain closed due to the epidemic is kindergartens and gyms. It is already clear to schools that they will accept students for the compulsory high school and maturation exams.
