HM Azimul Haque, deputy commissioner of the Ramna division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police, said they rescued the nine-year-old from Panchabati in Narayanganj on Monday night.
Police arrested a young woman named Lopa Talukder in the incident. Although his full identity is unknown, Lopa is one of two men Zinnia’s mother told police she was suspicious of.
Intelligence officer Azimul Haque said: “We are trying to find out for what purpose, who brought Zinnia there. Details will be announced later.”
Her mother, Senura Begum, last saw Zinnia eating phukka with two unidentified women at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate adjacent to the TSC around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Since then, Zinnia’s whereabouts have not been found.
Unable to search many places, Senura Begum went to the Shahbagh police station on Wednesday and kept a general diary (GD). There she surrounded the two unidentified women and expressed suspicion.
TSC’s street child, Zinnia, was not found in 7 days
He told bdnews24.com on Tuesday morning: “The police said those women lured my daughter and took her away. But I still haven’t seen the mannequin on my chest. Today they will take him to Shahbagh police station.”
Senura came to the TSC area with her three children from Bhairab in Kishoreganj seven years ago after her husband, the truck driver, was killed in an accident.
He spent the night on the veranda of the TSC with his two daughters Cynthia (6), Zinnia (9) and his son Palash (18). Xenia and Cynthia sell flowers during the day and support their mother’s family. And Palash now works in a tea shop.
Cynthia-Zinnia, two children with sweet smiles, are known to most of the students at Dhaka University or Anagona at TSC.
Since Zinnia’s disappearance, leaders of various Dhaka University organizations and ordinary students have voiced their search for the boy through various social media, including Facebook.
