Retired Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, vice president of the party, has alleged that freedom fighters are being cornered in the BNP. I did not resign today at their request. I want to see if my explanation is satisfactory for them (leaders). Then I will decide.
Demanding the convening of a national party council, he said: “As a negligible BNP worker, I would like to make some recommendations. The party’s national council should be convened by March 2021. Accusations of committee trading and standardization trading have surfaced at various levels in the party. The matter must be investigated by a committee headed by a senior member of the party’s standing committee and a report of the council meeting must be presented. In all future elections, one person must be nominated as a party candidate and another as an alternate candidate. This will reduce the opportunities for nomination trading.
Hafeez said: “The party’s national standing committee, central executive committee and organ organizing committees should be formed by vote of councilors.” Recently, the central leaders of Chhatra Dal have formed a committee in my constituency in Dhaka. I do not know the convener. Chhatra League workers also have a place on this committee. My recommendation was not considered. No response was received by letter to the president and the acting secretary general. After 29 years of service, I can expect a response to the letter.
If any allegation of corruption is made against any party member, organizational action should be taken against them after the investigation. Only then will the soul of the great honest, selfless leader and great Shaheed Ziaur Rahman find peace, ”said Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
Calling the workers, he said: “I ask BNP leaders and workers to think: why is the BNP popular party out of power today, who is responsible.” The BNP remains the most popular party. We went to the polls in 1996 with tail manure. Even then I got 116 seats. Every minister has been defeated. But we deputies have won.
So think, think without being deaf or dumb. Contribute to the good of the team. Suggest to the team what to do. Don’t end responsibility with a simple compliment. Follow Ziaur Rahman. Play politics honestly like him. If the BNP takes action against evil people, the soul of the great leader Ziaur Rahman will also find peace in the grave, ”said Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
