A young woman has been gang-raped while receiving treatment for her grandfather in Purbadhala upazila in Netrokona. He was sent to the hospital for a medical examination on Saturday afternoon.
Netrokona (Sadar Circle) Additional Police Superintendent Morsheda Khatun confirmed the information.
According to police sources, the victim was staying at the Purbadhala Hospital to receive treatment for his grandfather. At that time, her acquaintance Lalon from the Noapara village of Purbadhala upazila called Lalon to buy fruit around 8pm on Friday and asked the girl to come to the hospital. The young woman went there and told him that she needed money for her grandfather’s treatment.
Later, Lalon sent the girl to a friend’s house with Nur Nabi in Dighajan’s Upazila village to look for money. After a while, Lalon also went to his friend’s house. First Lalon and then Nurnabi raped the girl. The girl arrived at the police station at night and reported to the police.
Additional Police Superintendent Morsheda Khatun said the two rapists were arrested that night. On Saturday, the girl was sent to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital for a medical examination. If the girl’s complaint becomes a case, the two defendants will be sent to court.
