During the smuggling into Saudi Arabia, 36,900 pieces of yaba were seized from three boxes of export shipments of ready-made garments at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Export Cargo Village in Dhaka. The market value of these is around one crore 16 lakh rupees.
They were seized on Friday morning (October 18) in a joint operation by the Dhaka Customs Preventive Team and Civil Aviation on the basis of secret information. Dhaka Customs Deputy (Preventive) Commissioner Mohammad Marufur Rahman confirmed the matter.
According to the export document, MS Siam & Som Enterprise, the exporter of the shipment, and the address has been used in Khilgaon Paschimpara. The importer is Aparez International East, Saudi Arabia, whose address is Al Wazir Trading Center in Riyadh.
Marufur Rahman said that after seizing the shipment of goods, the Narcotics Control Department was informed and his representative came and confirmed the Yaba matter. The matter is being processed under the Law of Control of Customs and Narcotics. No one involved in the incident has yet been arrested.
