Yaba to come, union led by ‘Rohingya Godfathers’

Following the assassination of retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed, law enforcement officials have taken several actions targeting the Cox’s Bazar area. Yaba produced in Myanmar during this period has crossed the border but can no longer enter the country, this is the demand of the RAB and BGB members. Drug traffickers have tried to inject several large shipments in a row to fuel the recession. But in the face of RAB and BGB operations, the shipment was unable to cross the Cox’s Bazar border.

According to RAB intelligence sources, the two countries’ drug traffickers are in trouble after four shipments worth around Tk 100 million were intercepted. The rest of the shipments were sold by Myanmar traders to keep the market afloat. But after seizing so many shipments of yaba, they have turned away from merchants in Bangladesh.

On this occasion, Myanmar drug traffickers have targeted young Rohingya who have taken refuge in Bangladesh for a number of reasons, including past identities and linguistic similarities. He has formed a new drug union. And in that union, Bangladeshi traders only work as transporters.

Meanwhile, due to the lack of capital for the Rohingya, merchants in Myanmar are selling the rest of the yaba to them. They will pay at the end of the sale. The yaba market has started to flourish again with this type of loan.

Major Mehedi Hasan, company commander of the RAB special battalion in the Cox’s Bazar area, told the Bengali Tribune that the Rohingya are currently running a yaba union. Amir-Anas-Munna-Zakir-Yasir are the godparents of the new union. We have heard these names over and over again from those we have arrested in recent raids.

The RAB official said the main reason for the recent troubles in the countryside was the expansion of domination. And it is dominated by drug shipments. Who will cross. Who will receive what percentage of money. The main problem with all this.

Sources from multiple drug trafficking forces say Yaba’s trafficking route has changed in recent days. If an invoice is taken on a route more than once, that route is not used for the next 6 months. If you are successful on that route again after six months, it will continue for the next three months. At present, there are at least 30 routes including Shahpari Island, Damdamiya, Leda, Rangikhali, Uluchamari, Moulvibazar, Noakhaliapara, Shaplapur, Satghariapara, Naikhyangchhari, Ukhia Amtali, Ghumdhum, Tambru, Betbunia and Ashartali.

Last month (October 24), the RAB seized a large shipment of 1.3 million pieces of yaba from the Majhirghat area of the Bankkhali River in the town of Cox’s Bazar. The value of yaba is estimated at Rs 60 crore. In this operation, a resident of the H-14 block of the Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia Md. Ayash (34) and Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Jhilangja Union South Hajipara. Two people named Billal were arrested (45). The RAB said the shipment came from Myanmar. The original shipment belonged to the former local Yaba Syndicate.

Previously (Aug 16), Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) recovered 140,000 pieces of Burmese yaba with a market value of 42 million takadas from a hillside next to the South Rejumatli Mosque in Ghumdhum UP, Naikhyangchhari Upazila, Bandarban district . The main local union in Bangladesh is also on this consignment. Both shipments of yaba were left. There was an opportunity to pay by selling goods. But due to the seizure of yaba, traders in the two countries have had to account for huge losses. And then the Myanmar traffickers began to dominate the Rohingya drug union.

Said the Director of the Department of Narcotics Control (Operations). AFM Masum Rabbani told the Bengali Tribune that the number of drug shipments has decreased. Currently, the Rohingya are actively involved in the yaba trade. Myanmar businessmen are giving billions of rupees of yaba to the rest of them because of their previous acquaintances. Passing the bill and paying the money. In these cases, they are adopting new strategies. We are watching them.

When asked why they could not be detained despite having specific information, Major Mehedi Hasan, a RAB official, said that there were 100/150 people with the same name in the same block in the camp. They do not have an identity card. The card the UN gave them could not be found on the server. Larger than that, there is a generalized unity between them when it comes to wrongdoing. It is difficult to build a fountain there. Since then we have carried out operations using drones more than once. In situations where it is difficult to be successful across the board.

BGB officials say yaba smuggling to the Rohingya has increased through inaccessible points along the Naikhyangchhari border. From January 1 to September, the force arrested more than 100 people, including about 1.7 million yaba tablets, in multiple raids. Most of them are Rohingya citizens.

Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan told the Bengali Tribune that he was carrying out the operation on the basis of information obtained from secret news. Large shipments of yaba are also being seized. The Rohingyas name comes as Godfather. Regular operations are also taking place against them.

Cox’s Bazar district police say many of Myanmar’s security forces are involved in the yaba business. There yaba is manufactured in many factories. Now they are giving the rest of yaba to keep the business going. And they are relying more on the Rohingya in this work.
