Dhaka: Golden Monir was an opportunistic politician. From salesman in the 90s to baggage business, gold smuggling, land grabbing, he has benefited from political leaders and various government officials.
He has built a mountain of assets worth Tk 1,050 crore at different locations in the capital under his own name.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) is working to identify those behind Monir Hossain’s promotion to Golden Monir.
Lt. Col. Ashiq Billah, director of the RAB’s media and legal wing, told banglanews on Sunday (November 22) at noon that he started his cooking business from a vendor in the 1990s. He then joined the baggage party. . There he used to import cosmetic products while avoiding customs. So Monir got involved in smuggling gold. He began to smuggle gold illegally.
Golden Monir developed close ties with various RAJUK officials. There they have manufactured false stamps, false stamps and forged documents and have occupied lots and lands in different parts of the capital. Additionally, two unlicensed luxury cars were seized from his home and three from Auto Car Selection. We will ask the four government agencies to gather information on these topics.
He said he would ask the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate how much money Monir smuggled out of the country or how much wealth he had. I would like to ask the National Revenue Board (NBR) to find out the amount of gold that smuggled into the country through cosmetic products and contraband. In the meantime, we will ask the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to investigate the importation of luxury cars without a license (worth Rs 3 crore each). Furthermore, we will formally report to the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) to investigate allegations that Golden Moni has counterfeited land.
“As the accusations against Golden Monir are not part of the RAB’s activities, we have asked four government agencies to investigate,” said Ashik Billah. RAB only deals with criminal procedure.
He said the RAB had filed three cases against him at the Badda police station in the capital on Sunday. A case has been filed under the Gun Law to recover a foreign pistol from your home, a case under the Narcotics Law to recover foreign liquor, and a case under the Special Powers Law to recover 600 ounces of gold and dollars.
Previously, the Anti-Corruption Commission and RAJUK had two cases against Monir de Gold.
Ashik Billah said: “While conducting a raid on Golden Monir’s house, we learned that he has occupied more than two hundred parcels and land in the capital and surrounding areas in collaboration with officials at different levels of RAJUK.” He admitted that there were 30 plots in the preliminary questioning. We expect the investigation to reveal details of your assets.
