Police arrested a thief named Nazmun Nahar Ripa (30) while stealing from a night passenger car named Rozina Paribahan that had left Dhaka. However, 6 other male members of the gang escaped. At that time, 8 knives used in the robbery were recovered.
Three bus passengers were injured in the attack. The injured were– Olin is the son of Jasim Uddin from Ranishankail upazila in Thakugaon, Jewel Rana, son of Abdul Ghaffar from Thakurgaon district and Jamal Hossain, son of Joynal Abedin from Nawabganj upazila. They have been admitted to the Birampur Upazila Health Complex.
Police blocked the road near the Matihara bridge in Nawabganj upazila on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway around 5 am on Monday. Nazmun Nahar Ripa from the car Police arrested the thief by name. Nazmun Nahar Ripa is the wife of Selim Sheikh from West Nayapara village in Ghoraghat Township of Dinajpur.
Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mithun Sarkar of Birampur Circle in Dinajpur said, On Sunday evening, a Rozina Paribahan bus was coming from Jatrabari of Dhaka (Dhaka Metro-B 145021) to Ranishankail upazila of Thakurgaon district with passengers. On the way, 6 thieves got on the bus. On the way to Dinajpur from Gobindaganj in Gaibandha district, the thieves began looting the passengers. The thieves removed the driver from the bus and took control of the vehicle. On the way, the attendant jumped out of the car in the Katabari area and called 999 and reported it to the police. Ghoraghat police chased the car after receiving a call. At the same time, the Birampur Circle deputy superintendent of police, together with the Nawabganj police, blocked the road in Dalardarga Bazar on the Dinajpur-Gobindganj highway.
Sensing a roadblock and the presence of the police, the thieves left the vehicle near the Motihara Bridge and fled. At that time, the police pursued them and arrested the gang member. The arrested woman has been taken to the Nawabganj Police Station.
Informed ASP Circle, A case has been filed in this regard. The arrested thief is being questioned. Attempts to stop the fleeing thieves continue.
