A court sentenced housewife Lilifa Banu to five years in prison for filing a false rape case in Sundarpur village in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. At the same time, a fine of three thousand rupees and two months of severe prison for non-payment has been issued.
Joypurhat Court for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children Judge (District Judge) on Monday afternoon. Rustam Ali gave the verdict.
According to sources in the case, on June 23, 2019, Lilifa Banu, daughter of Shahjahan Ali from the same village, filed a rape case against Ruhul Amin from Sundarpur village of Joypurhat Sadar upazila. The case has been pending for the past few months. In the end, the accusations in the case turned out to be false in court.
It should be noted that this false rape case was presented for the purpose of catching the opponent due to a previous enmity.
Nripendranath Mandal, PP defender at the Joypurhat Court of Judges, said that in the past two months three bogus rape cases have been filed at the Joypurhat Court for Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children. The court has sentenced the plaintiff in each case to five years in prison.
