Dhaka: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) arrested a woman named Israt Jahan Reilly (19) from the Mirpur area of the capital accused of insulting religion on social media Facebook.
He was arrested on Thursday (November 5) evening in the area of the Darussalam Police Station in Mirpur.
At the time, screenshots of various provocative cartoons, speeches and hateful digital content were taken from him.
RAB-4 Deputy Superintendent of Police Sajedul Islam Sajal said that a man named Israt Jahan Reilly had been arrested for spreading provocative religious slurs through social media. He has been posting hateful and religious provocation posts on his behalf for a long time from 6 Facebook IDs, 2 Facebook pages based on personal blogs and Twitter IDs.
Even after his multiple Facebook IDs were inactivated, he continued to open new ones and spread religious incitement.
Detainee Israt Jahan Reilly admitted to the allegations and said a case is being brought against him under the Digital Security Act.
