Panchami Bewa, 90, the wife of the late Pran Kishore Barman from Khalifapur village, died Tuesday morning.
Swarajni Bala Roy (50) and Chaiti Rani (30), two daughters of Panchami Bewar, died at night.
Swarajni is the wife of Sushil Chandra Roy from Dangapara village in Sakoa union of Boda upazila and Chaiti Rani Roy (30) is the wife of Palash Chandra Roy from Farabari in Thakurgaon Sadar.
Referring to family members, Zakaria Habib, a member of the Chandanbari Union Parishad, said that Panchami Bewa was the mother of six daughters and two sons. After Panchami Bewa died of old age on Tuesday morning, her six daughters came to see her from her husband’s home. All day they cried for their mother. In the afternoon, Panchami’s body was cremated in the crematorium next to the house.
She said that Chaiti Rani, the youngest daughter, passed out due to chest pain as she prepared to return home. Family members were taking him in a minibus to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital. Swarajini Bala was also on that minibus. Swarajani also passed out in the car on the way.
Later, two sisters died in a minibus around 6 pm on the way to Thakurgaon hospital. When they were taken to the hospital, the doctor also confirmed death. ”
Kamini Kumar Roy, Panchami Bewar’s grandson, said: “We are shocked by the sudden incident in the family.”
The sudden incident has cast a mourning shadow over the area.
