Dhaka: Facebook, the world’s largest social media platform, has hired a Bangladeshi official to oversee Bangladeshi affairs. Sabhanaz Rashid, Facebook’s newly appointed Bangladesh affairs officer, will work quickly to resolve any content issues.

The information was revealed during a digital meeting between officials at Facebook’s regional headquarters in Singapore on Monday (September 6) and Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar.

The meeting was informed that one Bengali speaker and one Bangladeshi speaker have been appointed to deal with the Bangladeshi side with the prompt resolution of any existing content issues.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications described the move as a fruitful initiative and thanked Facebook authorities.

Conflicts with the country’s socio-cultural values, including the spread of rumors and social stigma in the use of social media, are occasionally posted on Facebook. This is creating instability in society.

In this situation, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) have long advocated for the appointment of interpreters and resellers on Facebook, the appointment of contributors to the National Board of Revenue and the translation and application appropriate skills in the Bengali language, emphasizing the social and cultural values ​​of the country. .

Facebook’s Public Policy Department has appointed Sabhanaz Rashid Dia, founder of the One Degree Initiative in Bangladesh, to monitor the content in Bangladesh.

After studying at the Independent University of Bangladesh with Sabhanaz Rashid, he emigrated to the United States. She studied at a university there. She has extensive experience working on Twitter and Google. She also had her own NGO, where she was in charge for 10 years, the official said.

The meeting was attended by Vikram Seng, Facebook’s Chief of Security, Ashwini Rana, Facebook’s Director of Public Policy, Sabnaj Rashid Dia, Facebook’s newly appointed Bangladesh Affairs Officer, and Iram Iqbal, Facebook’s mobile partner.
