With the exception of Mashrafe bin Mortuza, Bangladesh has been named to the ODI preliminary team for the upcoming series against the West Indies. A total of 24 cricketers have found a place there. In addition, a 20-member independent preliminary team has been provided for the test series.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the team for the Test and ODI series on Monday. But the former captain Mashrafe was not considered for the series of limited overs. And Mahmudullah was never again included in the white dress team. However, the best off-roader in the world, Shakib Al Hasan, who was released from the ban, inevitably returned to the team in two editions.

Bangladesh played three ODIs against Zimbabwe at home last March. In that series, Mashrafe retired from the lead by beating the team 3-0. However, the leader of the country’s most successful cricket team expressed his desire to play international cricket even after leaving the position of captain.

After that, all kinds of sports in the country were stopped due to the coronavirus outbreak. After a long wait, competitive cricket resumed with the BCB President’s Cup last October. Then, in November-December, the five-team Bangabandhu Cup T20 was played on the field. Mashrafe was not at the start of the event due to injury.

After nine long months, Mashrafe returned to practice and then Jamkon Khulna added him to the team. Took 6 wickets in 4 games for the team that won the title. The right arm pacemaker also tested 5 terrains at T20 for the first time in his career. But that was not enough to gain the confidence of the selectors.

There are two new faces to the ODI team. Left arm pacemaker Shariful Islam and left arm hitter Parvez Hossain Emon. Bangladesh’s ODI against the Windies will take place on January 20, 22 and 25, respectively. Bangladesh will return to international cricket with this series.

Then, Dudul will play a two-match test series. The first test will begin in Chittagong on February 3. The second and final test will be played in Dhaka on February 11.
