No one has played that many innings before at Sedan Park. Williamson has surpassed Peter Ingram in setting the record. His entries in national cricket were 246 runs.
Only two captains were able to score more than Williamson in the first innings: England’s Graham Gooch (Lord’s, 333 against India) and Stephen Fleming (282 against Cape Town, South Africa).
Only England’s Peter May, who captained the West Indies in larger innings, scored 265 unbeaten at Birmingham in 1956. Williamson scored two centuries doubles as New Zealand captain. Just Fleming and Brendon McCallum up front.
They have three double centuries. Yet, like a century, Williamson is again ahead of all Kiwi captains. Its 9 centuries are shorter than those of Fleming-McCullum or Martin Crowe, Daniel Vettori. Roach and Shannon Gabriel took 3 plots each for the West Indies.
The West Indies batted their first innings and scored 21 homeless runs as of this writing.
