What worries health experts the most is that vaccine companies sell vaccines to countries that can buy them. Certainly rich countries can buy that vaccine. Again, in the countries where the vaccine companies are located, the governments of those countries will keep a large number of vaccines for their citizens.
An organization called Gavi helps develop vaccines in developing countries. Seth Berkeley, the organization’s executive director, said rich countries could not reap the benefits if they only thought of themselves. Because the best way to prevent the virus is to make sure that no one in your own country is infected. Global problems alone cannot be good.
Many have reminded us of the situation the United States created in 2009 with the swine flu vaccine. Barack Obama was the president of the country at the time. His administration purchased 600 million doses of vaccine for citizens. Not only the United States but other western governments have done the same. As a result, the swine flu vaccine delivery system is severely damaged. Many poor countries are deprived of vaccines in times of need. This creates anger.
Extremist presidents and heads of government like President Donald Trump were more likely to repeat the same situation 11 years ago. Because they want to mobilize the economy in any way. So they have no choice but to put people under the vaccine.
During this time of the coronavirus epidemic, the poorest nations are disappointed to see that life-saving elements, including ventilators, have been “aggressively occupied” by the West. What is the guarantee that such a situation will not occur even after the discovery of the vaccine?
To put it bluntly, wealthy countries will be the first to benefit from the discovery of the coronavirus vaccine. Then there will be a shortage of supplies and people in poor countries will start getting vaccinated too late. And for that, there is no alternative to a balanced distribution of coronavirus vaccines, according to health experts.
