The court denied bail to Nazmus Shakib, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) at RAB headquarters, and sent him to jail in a case brought by his wife on charges of feticide, torture and dowry.

When bail granted by the High Court expired that day, Nazmus Shakib, his father Safiullah Talukder, and his mother Khaleda Sultana surrendered through a lawyer and requested bail. According to the statement of the case, Ishrat Rahman married Nazmus Shakib in March 2016. Md. Father-in-law since marriage. Safiullah Talukder (60), mother-in-law Khaleda Sultana (52) continued to express her oppressive and dowry-loving attitude. The defendant continued to pressure Ishrat to bring her father’s cash at different times. If they didn’t give her money, they tortured her physically and mentally. For fear of torture, she often brought cash from her father and gave it to the accused.

The complaint further stated that the accused continued to torture Ishrat because she was unable to pay the Tk 12 lakh dowry.
