In Rajshahi’s Bagha upazila, the wife died after jumping out of her husband’s private moving car. The accident took place in the Mirganj area of upazila on Saturday morning. After the incident, her husband Mohammad Ali has remained in police custody.
The deceased was identified as Julia Khatun, 20. She is the daughter of Mosharraf Hossain from Mirganj village in upazila and the wife of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Rajbari district. They have a five-year-old son.
According to the murdered housewife’s family sources, Mohammad Ali of Rajbari married Julia about six years ago. Mohammad Ali lives in Dhaka and is involved in the garment business.
Julia’s uncle Mukul Hossain said his son-in-law’s relationship with Julia was not going well recently. For this reason, Julia Baghar used to stay at her parents’ house in Mirganj for the last month. She did not want to go to Dhaka. Last Friday, the son-in-law arrived at the in-laws’ house with a private car. Mohammad Ali left his father-in-law’s house with his wife and son around 10 am on Saturday to visit Bagha Mazar Sharif. But he did not go to the shrine but crossed Bagha Bazar and headed for Dhaka. Julia opened the car door and jumped out. She was seriously injured in the incident.
With the help of the locals, Mohammad Ali rescued his wife Julia and took her to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty transferred the injured Julia to Ramek Hospital. He died on the way to Ramek Hospital.
Nazrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Bagha Police Station, said Mohammad Ali remained in police custody after receiving information about the accident. No written complaint was received as of this afternoon. Legal action will be taken.
