India temporarily suspends exports of the Oxford-AstraZeneca corona vaccine This decision is known to have been made due to the rapid increase in the number of corona cases in the country. This was reported on Thursday (March 25) by the British media BBC.

About 47,000 new corona patients were identified in India on Wednesday (March 24) and at least 265 people died. This is the highest daily ID in the country this year. In addition, 45-year-olds in India will be vaccinated from April 1. Country officials expect demand for the vaccine to rise even further.

According to a BBC report, Indian Foreign Ministry sources said the decision to suspend exports was temporary. Now we must give priority to domestic demand. There is the possibility of pressure on the supply of vaccines until April. However, the situation may be favorable in May. At least one additional vaccine is expected to receive emergency approval.

India has not exported any vaccines since last Thursday, according to the website of the country’s Foreign Ministry. Neither the government nor the Serum Institute have ruled on the matter.
