To be vaccinated in the country, priority will be given to health workers, frontline workers, immunosuppressed people, the elderly and adults with chronic diseases, education workers and public transportation.

The decision was made at an emergency meeting on the preparation and implementation plan of the National Covid-19 vaccination program. The meeting was held in the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday afternoon.

The meeting also decided to form monitoring committees at the national, district and upazila levels to prepare a list of priority groups and provide vaccines before the start of vaccination activities.

The meeting said that, considering the gradual availability of vaccines, priority will be given to groups at high risk of Kovid-19 infection.

The Department of Health presented a PowerPoint presentation meeting on plans for the use of the corona vaccine. Under the agreement between the Government of Bangladesh, Serum Institute India and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Bangladesh will buy 30 million doses of Covid-19 invented by Oxford-AstraZeneca. This vaccine can be stored at a temperature of two to eight degrees Celsius, which exists in Bangladesh. The second dose will be applied 28 days after the first dose.

Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Zahid Malik, was the main guest of the meeting, which was chaired by Ahmed Kaikaus. He quoted the Prime Minister as saying that all people in Bangladesh will be vaccinated against corona vaccine in phases.

Nazmul Hasan Papon, Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, mentioned that Bangladesh is one of the 16 countries in the world that receive the corona vaccine as a priority.

Present at the meeting was the Principal Coordinator of the SDGs Juena Aziz, Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, among others. Tofazzal Hossain Mia and Nazmul Hasan Papon, Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited. In addition, secretaries and CEOs of concerned ministries and departments, representatives of law enforcement agencies, public health experts and concerned officials from the Prime Minister’s Office were also present at the meeting.
