In the absence of Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, the Qaumi Mahal has long been arguing over who will be the leader of the “non-political organization” Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. After the death of this veteran academic of the country last Friday, the issue has worsened. Amir de Hefazat will be elected from the capital Dhaka or Chittagong, there are various speculations within the organization. Not only custody, but also Allama Shafi’s resignation from the post of Muhtamim (Director General) of the traditional Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari of Chittagong on the eve of his death. Due to the death of Allama Shafi, at the same time, the position of the chairman of the Qaumi Madrasa Board and the chairman of the higher regulatory body ‘Al-Hayatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatil Qaumiya Bangladesh’ is also changing. All eyes are now on these important institutions and committees. Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, a veteran academic from the country, has been at the forefront of these institutions and committees with a reputation for a long time.
Several teachers and leaders of these committees and institutions said that Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi was universally respected. His death has caused irreparable damage to the country and a huge void. This veteran scholar has an important role to play in the teaching, propagation and propagation of Islam.
In this regard, Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi, Deputy Secretary General of Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, said that in light of the constitution, leaders and workers will elect the new Emir of Hifazat-e-Islam. The Hathazari Bara Madrasa Shura Committee will systematically elect the Director General of the Madrasa. Similarly, the Chairman of the Board of Qawmi Madrasa will also be elected on a regular basis.
A high-ranking leader of the Dhaka Metropolitan Hefazat said on condition of anonymity: “Any of the vice-presidents can act as acting emir of Hefazat. The new leadership can be elected through the council at a later time.
It is known that Allama Muhibullah Babungari, Hefazat’s number one vice president, was supposed to be the acting emir after the death of Ameer Allam Shafi. He is the adult. Some people think that he can be seen as the acting emir of Hefazat-e-Islam for the time being. If he cannot take over, then any of the vice presidents can be seen in charge of the interim emir.
Another Hifazat leader said that in addition to Senior Vice President Maulana Muhibullah Babungari, the names of Dhaka Metropolitan Vice President and President Hifazat Maulana Noor Hossain Kasemi, Central Vice President of Hifazat Maulana Tajul Islam and former Minister Mufti Mohammad Waqqas are also on the list. However, concerned people think that the organization may also hold an emergency council without appointing anyone as acting emir due to the custody leaders dispute. In this case, many think that the current general secretary of the organization Maulana Junaid Babungari Hefazat can be elected as the new emir of the council.
Hefazat Deputy Secretary General Maulana Mahfuzul Haque said: “After the death of the emir, we do not have the mental capacity to talk about it. If the situation is normal, the matter will be decided on the basis of everyone’s opinion.
It is known that before the death of Allama Shafi, Hifazat-e-Islam openly split into three parts over control of Hathazari Madrasa. All three groups in the organization await leadership from their top leaders in custody. One of them is led by Allama Shafi’s son, Anas Madani. Another group includes Mufti Faizullah, Hefazat’s central deputy general secretary and general secretary of Islamic Unity, and Maulana Mainuddin Ruhi. The other group is led by Maulana Junaid Babungari, Hifazat’s current secretary general.
After Allama Shafi’s resignation the day before his death, Maulana Sheikh Ahmed is in charge of Hathazari Bara Madrasa. However, the Shura Committee of the Madrasa will soon appoint a new position.
On January 19, 2010, Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, CEO of Hathazari Madrasa, formed Hefazat-e-Islam, the largest non-political organization of Qaumi Gharana of Chittagong. He was able to bring together all the political and non-political parties of the Qaumi dynasty under one banner. Allama Shafi came to the discussion on April 5, 2013 by staging a siege of Dhaka and a demonstration in Shapla Chattar in the capital demanding 13 points.
