A Tel Aviv minister has said that Pakistan is not among the Muslim countries with which Israel is trying to normalize relations.
On Wednesday, Israel’s Minister for Regional Cooperation, Afir Akunis Yenet, told television that the US president would make arrangements to normalize Israel’s relations with two more countries before leaving the White House next month.
In recent months, Israel, in cooperation with the US administration, agreed to normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco.
Despite losing the November presidential election, the Trump administration continues to work with Israel to strengthen its position in the Middle East.
The regional cooperation minister said two more countries would establish relations with Israel before Trump leaves the White House on January 20. However, neither country has released its name.
Indicates the existence of a Gulf country. But that is not Saudi Arabia. The other will be a Muslim country further east, but it is not small in size and neither is Pakistan, Akunis said.
Earlier this week, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Islamabad would not recognize Israel before the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was resolved.
Indonesia, a Muslim-majority country, said last week that it would not recognize Israel until a Palestinian state was established. Oman praises the US mediation but denies having established Israeli relations with itself.
