Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina read a special excerpt from Bangabandhu’s speech in Parliament on January 25, 1975, the day the Constitution was amended. He said the only goal of the father of the nation was to put a smile on the faces of sad people. He amended the constitution. I wanted to offer the benefits of freedom from house to house. But he was not allowed to do that. A group fell against him. They could not forget the slavery of the Pakistani masters.
Calling to be vigilant in the defense of the constitution
Spokeswoman Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury spoke at the beginning of yesterday’s session. He discussed the drafting of the constitution and the philosophy of Bangabandhu in independent Bangladesh.
Highlighting the preamble to the 1972 constitution, the speaker said: “We have to work towards the goal of fulfilling the aspirations of the Bengal people with the Bangabandhu philosophy. We must always be vigilant to protect and defend the constitution. Mujib should be the promise of the year, to bring the benefits of the constitution to the homes of all the people of Bengal. This constitution will only be successful when the people of Bengal are free from hunger, poverty, deprivation and inequality and have a better life. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, works tirelessly to achieve this goal.
