When the victim became ill and vomited the night after the rape, Raihan called another friend, Asim Khan. Asim arrived the next day and admitted the victim first to Ibn Sina and then to Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital. The victim died after receiving life support for two days.
Another classmate, Arafat, who had been drinking with him, died at the City General Hospital in the capital.
Police arrested Mortuza Raihan Chowdhury and his girlfriend Nuhat Alam Tafsir in the incident. In addition, another defendant named Shafayat surrendered to the court. He has been sent to jail through court. Police arrested Neha, the last defendant in the case, at a home in Azimpur.
