The main suspect in a knife attack on a church in the French city of Nice is said to have arrived in France from Tunis a few days ago. According to the British media BBC, the role of the Italian Red Cross has been recovered from the 21-year-old accused.
One of the victims of Thursday’s attack on a Notre Dame church in the city of Nice has been nearly beheaded. Three people, including the woman, were stabbed to death. French President Emmanuel Macron called the attack an Islamist terrorist attack.
The attacker was identified as Brahim Auisaui, police sources said. The Red Cross document that recovered him was reportedly given to him last month after he arrived on the Italian island of Lampedusa on an immigrant boat.
He reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” before the police fired at the suspect in the Nice attack. Currently, counter-terrorism prosecutors have launched an investigation into the matter.
A Koran, two phones and a 12-inch knife were recovered from the attacker, said Jean-François Ricard, the country’s top counterterrorism prosecutor. “We also found a bag from the attacker,” he added. Along with this bag were two knives that were not used in the attack.
