Discussions have started on who will be the next Emir after the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, the Emir of Hefazat-e-Islam.

So far no one has been able to submit the perfect solution, which is not strange. However, there are indications that the emir’s selection process may begin soon. And that will be through the council.

Allama Junaid Babungari, the organization’s secretary general, said that Allama Shafi’s successor would be determined through the council.

He made the remarks while speaking to the media at Hathazari Darul Uloom Mueenul Islam Madrasa, Hefazat’s headquarters, at midnight on Friday.

Hefazat-e-Islam, a non-political organization based in Qaumi Madrasa, began its journey on January 19, 2010 under the leadership of Allama Ahmad Shafi, Director General of Darul Uloom Mueenul Islam Madrasa. Hathazari Madrasa has been used as his office from the beginning.

Since its inception, Allama Shafi has been the organization’s emir and Junaid Babungari, a professor at the same madrasa, has been the general secretary.

Hefazat first announced her presence in 2011 in opposition to the women’s development policy. Then in 2013, the organization came to the discussion across the country with 13 points, including the punishment of bloggers who insulted Islam and the Prophet.

On May 5 of the same year, a long march across the country to Dhaka met in Shapla Chattar. Since then, there has been much discussion and criticism about Hefazat-e-Islam.

Hefazat Amir Allama Ahmad Shafi died in a Dhaka hospital on Friday night.

When asked if there would be any impact on the organization’s activities after his death, Junaid Babungari said: “The death of Allama Ahmad Shafi is due to the lack of leadership in the organization.” There are no more people like him. My responsibility now is to call the council. The council will elect a new emir in accordance with that decision. No one can make a decision alone. ‘

Claiming that he had nothing to do with the student movement in Hathazari Madrasa for the past few days, Babungari said: “I don’t know who is doing this and why. I don’t even know them.

At one stage in the movement, Allama Shafi announced his resignation from the madrasa’s CEO position Thursday night. After that, this eminent scholar fell ill.

Anas Madani, the son of Allama Shafi, was expelled from the position of madrasa teacher the day before before the movement.

The student movement is said to be a follower of Hefazat’s secretary general, Babungari. Anas Madani was also insulted during the janaza of Allama Shafi’s prayers in Hathazari.
