Weapons recovered from the home of a Juba League leader arrested in rape case

Weapons and ammunition have been recovered from the home of Juba League leader Mojibur Rahman, aka Sharif, 32, who was arrested in a case of raping the wife of an expatriate (25) by breaking down a door in Chatkhil upazila of Noakhali. According to the information provided by him, a Chatkhil police team recovered them around 8pm on Wednesday.

Anwarul Islam, the police officer in charge of Chatkhil, confirmed the information at first light. Last night, he said, a foreign pistol, two bullets, an empty beer can, five mobile phones, a laptop and some other items were recovered based on information provided by Mojibur, who was arrested in the rape case. A separate case has been registered against Mojibur in this incident.

The raped woman filed a case under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act yesterday afternoon. He alleged in the case that Mojibur broke the door of the house around 5 in the morning yesterday and raped her at gunpoint. At the time, Mojibur had a video of the rape on his mobile phone. He threatened to kill her and her two children if she told anyone about the incident.

Mojibur Rahman aka Sharif was the president of the Union Juba League. He was expelled from the party after allegations of rape emerged. Chatkhil police arrested Mojibur around 2pm yesterday.
