Prime Minister Sheikh HasinaPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced plans to build warships at her own shipyard in the future. He said: ‘After coming to government for the first time, I handed over the Khulna Shipyard to the Navy. In addition, we delivered the Chittagong and Narayanganj shipyards to the Navy. The aim is that we also build warships in our own shipyards. We have already started working. Also, we are building a submarine base in Pekua at Cox’s Bazar.

The Prime Minister spoke at the 2018 Navy Alpha and DEO 2020 Bravo Batch Presidential Winter Parade held in Chittagong BNA on Wednesday (December 30). He participated in the event via videoconference from Ganobhaban.

Highlighting various government initiatives to build a strong navy, the head of government said: “We have already added a total of 26 warships to the navy to strengthen it.” In 2016, we added two next-generation submarines to the fleet. As a result, we have been able to transform the Bangladesh Navy into a full-fledged three-dimensional force. I’ve done everything in the Navy since the aviation system. In addition, we built the “Bangabandhu Complex” to further enhance our training. He mentioned that the flats have been built to solve the housing problem of the members of the Navy.

Sheikh Hasina said: ‘Bangladesh does not want war, it wants peace. But we are building each and every one of our forces in such a way that we have all kinds of initiatives and training to protect the independence and sovereignty of our country. We, as a self-respecting nation, want to live with respect for ourselves. We don’t want to interfere in anyone else’s business. We will not tolerate anyone else interfering in our affairs. We believe in this principle.

Speaking of the government’s initiative to advance the country’s economy using marine resources, Sheikh Hasina said: “We have huge maritime borders. We work with the goal of using its resources for our own economic development.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister praised the Navy for coming forward with the help of members of the Navy for various needs in the country, including natural calamities. Calling on the new officers to abide by the directives of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said: “We will live up to the ideals of the Father of the Nation. He gave it all for the nation. ‘

The Chief of the Naval General Staff, Admiral Mohammad Shahin Iqbal, presented the award on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the worthy apprentices.
