Wardboy Abul Bashar has sexually harassed the daughter of a patient at the Chandina Upazila Health Complex in Comilla. The incident took place in the women’s ward of the Chandina Upazila Health Complex around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, other patients in treatment at the hospital and their families arrested Abul Bashar in handcuffs and carried out a massacre. The authorities of the Upazila Health Complex have formed a three-member investigative committee into the incident.

Abul Bashar, 35, is the son of the late Abdul Aziz from the village of Kalemsar in Chandina upazila. He is an assistant who works at the Chandina Upazila Health Complex.

Kulchum Begum, who is receiving treatment in hospital bed number 21, said: “I was admitted to the Chandina Upazila Health Complex on August 31 for my treatment.” My oldest daughter was also with me to take care of me. At approximately 2:35 pm on Tuesday night, Wardboy Abul Bashar grabbed my daughter and tried to rape her. When my other patients and I woke up to hear my daughter screaming, the boy in the room tried to run away. At that time, relatives of other patients came and washed it. I want a fair trial for that incident.

Wardboy Abul Bashar said, I was on duty since 8 pm. I fell asleep at 12 at night. When I came out suddenly, (the patients and their families) beat me and broke my head.

Said the Upazila health officer. Anwar Ullah said that the immoral act with the patient is very sad. In this regard, we have a junior consultant (Gaini) said. We have formed a three-member investigative committee headed by Hasina Akter. Furthermore, I have informed the officer in Upazila Nirbahi and the officer in charge of Thana.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Shamsuddin Police Station Mohammad Elias said the preliminary investigation had found the truth about sexual harassment. We will take legal action if we receive a written complaint.

Vibhishan Kanti Das, Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) officer, said: “After hearing about this, I have formed an investigative committee and instructed the Upazila health officer to submit a report in three days.”
