Former Dakshur Vice President Nurul Haque Nur, who was arrested in a case of obstruction of police work and rape, has been released on bail. Six other detainees have also been released along with him.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner (DB) AKM Hafiz Akter confirmed the information to Jugantar around 1pm on Monday. He left the DB office around 1:15 pm after various dramas about his arrest and release.
At 11:40 pm, the police took him to the DB office through a door behind the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMC). Earlier, Nur was taken to the DB office after being detained in the Matsya Bhaban area and became ill. For this reason, he was transferred to Dhamek Hospital.
DMP Moha Commissioner at 11:15 pm. Shafiqul Islam said Vice President Noor had difficulty breathing in DB’s office. She has asthma. He was taken to the hospital for this reason. It will be released at any time.
When asked if the defendant was released in this way after the statement was made, the commissioner said that it would first be investigated whether or not the girl was raped. And there is no rape charge against Vice President Noor. The girl took him to court. Further action will be taken after investigating the incident.
When he left without Noor at 12:45 pm, his associates greeted him with flowers. In an immediate response, Nur said, “We were arrested and tortured in Matsya Bhaban.” But no torture was practiced in DB’s office.
I don’t understand why this is happening to us. DB has released us on bail. She added that on Tuesday (today) at 11 am there would be a nationwide protest in protest of the incident.
Police in riot gear stormed a demonstration on Monday, taking hundreds of protesters away in a truck. Nur’s organization, the Bangladesh Student Rights Protection Council, was protesting after a Dhaka University student filed a rape case, claiming it was conspiratorial.
When the procession of the TSC from Dhaka University reached the Matsya Bhaban area, it ran into problems with the police. Police arrested seven people there, including Noor. Taken to DB’s office. He was later transferred to the hospital for treatment. Council leaders and activists injured in the police attack were receiving treatment there. Several policemen were also seen receiving treatment at the time.
After arresting Nur, Walid Hossain, DMP deputy commissioner, said that Nur and his associates were arrested at the Matsya Bhaban crossing. There they protested and at one point attacked the police. They have been arrested for obstructing the police.
However, since there is a rape case against Noor, he will be arrested in that case as well. After the arrest, the Deputy Commissioner for the Ramna area, SM Shamim, said they attacked the police while arresting Nur in a rape case. Several policemen were injured.
It can be mentioned that a student from the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Dhaka filed a case on Sunday night alleging violation against six leaders of the quota reform movement, including Noor. The case was brought to the Lalbagh Police Station on January 3 alleging rape and complicity.
The officer in charge (CO) of Lalbagh Police Station KM Ashraf Uddin confirmed the matter. The CO said that all the complainants and defendants are students from Dhaka University. Six people were charged in the case. In the case, it was alleged that the student was raped by Hasan Al Mamun, a student from the same department.
The accusation is under investigation. The CO said that the main defendant, Hassan Al Mamun, was a graduate student from the same department. He is the coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council. Five people have been accused of being his accomplices. Among them are Nurul Haque Nur, former vice president of Daksh and joint coordinator of the Council on Student Rights. The case shows the Nawabganj area in Lalbagh.
The other defendants in the case are Nazmul Hasan Sohag, joint coordinator of the Student Rights Council, Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and Abdullah Hill Baki. When asked about the allegations, Hassan Al Mamun said he knew nothing about the case. None of that happened. I will talk about this knowing the details.
