In the municipal elections underway in the country, the vote will take place in 70 municipalities in the second phase on Saturday. Voting begins at 8 am and will continue until 4 pm. Of the 60 municipalities, 29 will be voted by electronic voting machine (EVM) and 31 by ballot.
Voting will take place through EVM in Birganj from Dinajpur district, Sariakandi and Santahar from Bogra, Nazipur from Naogaon, Kakanhat and Arani from Rajshahi, Naldanga from Natore, Kazipur from Sirajganj, Faridpur from Pabna, Gangni from Meherpur, Kumartiarghair from Kushli Dhanbari, Kendua from Mymensingh, Kuliarchar from Kishoreganj, Manohardi from Narsingdi, Tarab from Narayanganj, Jagannathpur from Sunatganj, Khunarghar from Comilla, Fenir.
Sandwip in Chittagong, Belkuchi in Sirajganj, Ullapara, Sadar and Raiganj, Mohanganj in Netrokona, Kushtia’s Sadar, Bheramara and Mirpur, Kulaura and Kamalganj in Moulvibazar, Nageshwari in Kurigram, Gaibandha’s Sundarganj and Sahibanipur Ishipur Sahibanjiganward, Dinajshaward Ispur Sahibanjiganj and Sahibanjpur Ishibanj and Sahibani , Sadar and Chhatak from Sunamganj, Madhabpur and Nabiganj from Habiganj, Boalmari from Faridpur, Muktagachha from Mymensingh, Gurudaspur and Gopalpur from Natore, Sherpur from Bogra, Lama Township from Bandarbandar District and Kishoreganj Sa.
The Mobile Force, the Strike Force and the RAB formed by the Police, the APBN and the Ansar Battalion will be deployed to maintain the situation of law and order during the elections. In addition, the police and members of Ansar will also be on the ground.
In municipalities where the number of voters is more than one lakh, there will be four platoons, three platoons if there are more than 50,000, two platoons if there are more than 10,000 and a BGB platoon if the number of voters is less than 10,000 on the day of the vote.
In the second phase, the Electoral Commission (EC) announced the schedule for 61 municipalities. But the mayoral candidate of Nilphamari Syedpur (symbol of the coconut tree) said. Voting in this municipality was postponed due to the death of Amjad Hossain Sarkar.
In the first phase of 329 municipalities in the country, voting was carried out in 24 municipalities on December 28 at EVM. In the second phase, today the vote is 70 upazilas. In the third phase, the voting will take place on January 30 in 64 municipalities and in the fourth phase, the voting will take place on February 14 in 57 municipalities.
