Turkey again opened its mouth in the context of Nagarno-Karabakh. On Monday, the Russian defense minister spoke by phone with the Turkish defense minister.
There, Turkey said, Nagorno-Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan. As soon as Armenia leaves, peace will quickly return. Turkey has been supporting Azerbaijan since the beginning of the war.
Armenia alleges that the Turkish army also assisted Azerbaijan with weapons and fighter jets.
The ceasefire was announced last Saturday. But so far it has not benefited. The armies of Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to fight. Nagarno-Karabakh has been reduced to rubble. There were no signs of stopping the fighting. Because both countries are inflexible in their demands.
Azerbaijan says it will not stop fighting unless Armenia withdraws from Nagarno-Karabakh. In fact, Azerbaijan said the same thing during a 10-hour peace meeting in Moscow on Friday. Although they agreed to a ceasefire, they also said it was temporary.
There are more fights than in the field. Both sides take refuge in rhetoric. Despite the fact that ordinary people have died in their own bombings, both sides blame the other for not following the rules of war. The crisis intensifies as both sides demand retaliation for the attack.
In reality, the war did not stop. Azerbaijan has repeatedly called on Turkey to mediate the peace talks. On Tuesday, the Turkish defense minister spoke with the Russian defense minister. Russia is still mediating to end the war. Turkey has told Russia that peace will return to Azerbaijan once the Armenian army withdraws from Nagorno-Karabakh. In other words, Turkey has made it clear that if it does not comply with Azerbaijan’s demands, the war will not end and they will support Azerbaijan.
Naturally, Armenia did not want to accept this. Russia did not obey Turkey either. Because Russia has support for Armenia. Meanwhile, France, the United States and Russia continue to push for peace talks.
They are also trying to include a few more countries in the meeting. But Azerbaijan’s demand that Turkey be the main mediator at that meeting was not accepted by other countries.
