Video of young man’s indecency goes viral: delivery of the main accused

Rahim surrendered at court this afternoon. The court later ordered that he be sent to jail.

Deputy Inspector SI Shariful Islam from Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station filed the case on September 27 under the Pornography and Digital Security Act. On September 26, Rahim’s accomplice, Junaid (24), was arrested by the Sadar police. He has been charged in that case.

The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Brahmanbaria Sadar Police Station, Abdur Rahim, said that the police had requested a 10-day pre-trial detention against the accused Rahim. A pretrial detention hearing is scheduled for Tuesday (October 6). Once pre-trial detention is granted, the accused will know the details of who is involved in the entire incident.

Note: On September 23 (Wednesday), the Brahmanbaria-based Facebook organization ‘Amrai Brahmanbaria’ posted a video of a young woman being abused in their group ‘Wish for Batter Brahmanbaria’ which is viral at the moment. In the video, the identity of the victim was kept secret. As seen in the video, a young woman dressed in a black burqa goes for a walk through the Kashabane of Puniaut in the district town. The young woman is detained there and is being humiliated and harassed. When the video went viral, there was a storm of criticism on social media. Since then, several teams from the district police, including the Brahmanbaria Sadar police, have been on the ground to arrest those involved in the incident.
