The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Hafizur Rahman, 40, accused of killing a ninth-grade student in Badarganj, Rangpur, after a video of the rape was posted on Facebook.
Rangpur-Khulna Division DIG Sheikh Nazmul Alam made the remarks at a press conference at the CID press center in Malibagh, the capital, on Wednesday (March 24). The CID arrested Hafizur on March 23.
Nazmul Alam said a ninth-class student committed suicide in Badarganj on January 5. A few days after the incident, we learned from various media outlets that a schoolgirl committed suicide after a video of the rape went viral on social media. One case of unnatural death was recorded in this incident at the Kotwali Police Station. The CID then began investigating the incident. Hafizur is the son of Yunus Ali, a member of the Kotwali union.
Nazmul Alam said that Hafizur raped the girl by catching her in love. His accomplice Bipul Chandra (27) recorded a video of the rape on his mobile phone.
Hafizur raped the schoolgirl more than once for fear of spreading the video on social media. The schoolgirl committed suicide by poisoning after the video spread on Facebook.
He said that if the video went viral in the area, the schoolgirl’s family would leave the house. Subsequently, the police brought a case against you. The CID has also taken up the case after arresting the main defendant Hafizur in the shadow investigation.
CID Additional Police Superintendent Mukta Dhar told the Bengali Tribune that Bipul Chandra had recorded video of the rape. Hafizur made this video with him. Continue the operation to stop it. More details of the incident will be known if he can be arrested.
