The police arrested three people in connection with the demolition of a sculpture of the revolutionary Bagha Jatin, one of the fighters of the anti-British movement established in front of Kaya College in Kushtia. Those arrested are Anisur Rahman Anis, 35, son of Mohiuddin from Raydanga village, president of the Kaya Union Juba League of Kumarkhali upazila, Hridoy Ahmed, 20, son of Shahab Uddin from his Kaya cadre village, and Sabuj Hossain, 20, son of Nazim Uddin from Chheuria Mandalpara from the same upazila. Police say the vandalism was caused by a personal dispute with the university’s board of directors and the university’s principal.
Anisur Rahman Anis, president of the Kaya Union Juba League, has been expelled for his involvement in sculpture vandalism. The Upazila Juba League office secretary Monwar Hossain confirmed the matter. The president of the district Juba League, Rabiul Islam, said a five-member investigative committee was formed to investigate the incident.

Agitation is created. People of different classes and professions condemned and protested. Faced with this situation, the police went out to the field to catch the criminals. Anisur Rahman Anis, president of the Kaya Union Juba League, who was the mastermind of the incident along with the president and the director of the university board, was taken to the police station for questioning on Friday morning after the incident. Subsequently, the police arrested Anis. Two others were also arrested Friday night, according to Anis’s confession.
Kushtia Police Superintendent SM Tanvir Arafat said the sculptors of the revolutionary Bagha Jatin had been vandalized due to a dispute with the university’s administrative committee. If the accused is questioned about pretrial detention, the whole incident will be known.
The three defendants were brought before the Kushtia Judicial Court of First Instance around 3 pm yesterday and were detained for seven days.
Human chain in Harinakundu: The Jhenaidah correspondent said that on Saturday a human chain was held in Harinakundu of Jhenaidah to protest the vandalism of the sculpture of the revolutionary leader of the anti-British movement Jatindranath Mukherjee aka Bagha Jatin. In the afternoon, the Bagha Jatin Academy organized a human chain at Doel Chattar in Harinakundu Upazila. Jhenaidah District Awami League Secretary General and Jhenaidah Municipal Mayor Saidul Karim Mintu, Harinakundu upazila President Jahangir Hossain and Biplobi Bagha Jatin Smriti Raksha Committee Secretary General Sarwar Jahan Badsha spoke during the human chain of an hour.
