Uzi pistols are sold in stores

Dhaka Metropolitan Police officials said that after the investigation, they learned that in the five years since 2015, 8 firearms companies licensed in the capital imported 111-point Tutu Bore Uzi pistols and rifles. Of these, 53 Uzi pistols have been sold to licensees. They still have 56 on their hands. The companies that have imported them are MH Arms Co., Moin Arms Co., Ahmed Hossain Arms Co., Messrs. Tozammel Hossain Co., K Ahmed Arms & Co., Shafiqul Islam Arms & Co.

Detectives sent a tip to Mokaram Hossain Khan of Purana Paltan, the owner of MH Arms Company, an arms dealer. Mokaram Hossain gave a written statement. He said he imported the weapons through the Ramna branch of Uttara Bank with the approval of the Interior Ministry. As imported merchandise, these weapons were unloaded from Dhaka customs for regular payment and stored for sale.

In this regard, Mokaram Hossain Khan told Prothom Alo that the recovered weapon was called a police pistol, but it was actually a rifle. He has a written gun. In fact, the model name of the weapon is pistol. It’s an Israeli machine gun. It weighs half a kilo. The Point Tutu Bore Uzi rifle weighs around 2kg. He said the weapons were imported from Austria due to their growing popularity. Previously, three more arms dealers imported them. He said the weapons were imported and sold in accordance with the law with the approval of the Interior Ministry.
