Usha Gangopadhyay was born in 1945. She spent her childhood in Rajasthan. Then they come to Calcutta. From a young age, she had a special interest in dance song and drama. He was an expert in Bharat Natyam. He had an in-depth study of Hindi literature. He also completed his master’s degree in Hindi literature. Later he taught at Bhabanipur Education Society College.
While teaching, Usha Gangopadhyay formed a theater company in 1986 as a painter. Usha Gangopadhyay created a new trend in Hindi drama in Calcutta. Rangakarmi Group Theater plays like Mahabhoj, Rudali, Court Martial and Antaryatra were appreciated. Her performances of Bhumija, Yashma Oran, Jayati, Adhe Adhure, Mudrarakshas, Andher Nagari, Bechara Bhagwan, Proposal, Parichay, Gudiya Ghar are very popular with drama lovers.
In 1981-82, she received the Best Actress Award from the Government of West Bengal and the Best Director Award from the West Bengal Drama Academy three times in a row. He also received the Safdar Hasmi Award from the Sangeet Natak Academy in Uttar Pradesh and the Sangeet Natak Academy Award from Delhi in 1997 for his special contribution in the field of drama. Prabha received the Khaitan Prize in 2003 and the Garima Samman from the Indian Language Council in 2004. He retired from teaching in 2006. He was popular as a playwright and social worker. The shadow of mourning for his death is in the world of drama.
