Among the 31 banned Chinese companies are China Telecom and China Mobile. Institutional transactions in the New York capital market are also subject to sanctions.
No US citizen may invest or buy shares in any of the companies involved in the sanctions.
The executive order also called for the withdrawal of investments from listed companies by November 2021.
This order will be effective as of January 11.
