Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has said that Bangladesh has close relations with the United States and that the country does not see Dhaka through the eyes of Delhi.
On Thursday (October 15), Secretary of State Ake Abdul Momen met with US Assistant Secretary of State Stephen E. The minister made the remarks at a joint press conference after a courtesy visit to Beagan.
He said: ‘America sees Bangladesh through the eyes of Delhi; this is what our media say. In fact, they do not look into the eyes of Delhi.
“We are an independent and sovereign country,” he said. Everyone knows that we have values and policies. Our position is always independent. We will do whatever is necessary for the interest of the country.
“That is why they look at us independently, not with the look of Delhi,” he added. I wouldn’t have come here just by looking at Delhi. They have come here because of our geopolitical position, they want to deepen friendship with Bangladesh.
Visiting Undersecretary Began arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday (October 14) and will leave Dhaka on Friday (October 18).
