A court has sentenced six people to death for killing four members of the same family with machetes in the village of Diadanga, in Bhurungamari upazila, in Kurigram. According to sources in the case, on January 14, 2014, a group of masked men stabbed to death four members of the same family with a sharp weapon in the middle of the night at Sultan Mia’s home in the Diadanga village of Bhurungamari upazila. . The following day, Hafizur Rahman, son of the murdered Sultan, filed a case at the Bhurungamari Police Station.
It was further mentioned in the case that the defendant Mamtaz Uddin had a dispute with his younger brother, Sultan Ahmed. Mumtaz Uddin rented the remaining convicts five lakh rupees and one bigha of land for the murder of Sultan Ahmed.
