A housewife handed a National Identity Card (NID) and a photograph to a Union Parishad (UP) member hoping for a house. Later, the UP member raped the housewife by promising to give her the house. But even then, the victim’s housewife brought a rape case against the UP member for not getting a house.

The incident took place in pavilion 4 of Tonki Union, below the Bangra Bazar police station in Muradnagar upazila de Comilla. The victim’s housewife has filed a lawsuit against a UP member from the Mojibur Rahman neighborhood in the Comilla Women’s and Children’s Court. The court ordered Comilla PBI to take legal action after investigating the incident. The file reached the PBI Comilla office from the court on Thursday.

According to the complaint and local sources, the wife of a CNG driver from Tonki village requested a house from Mojibur Rahman, a local UP member from District 4. Mojibur Rahman, a UP member, began visiting the home of the housewife after taking her picture and her National Identity Card (NID) with the promise of a house from the Prime Minister’s Aid Fund. At one point, when the housewife offered her a physical relationship, the housewife did not agree at first, but Mojibur Rahman raped her with various tricks, including the temptation to gift her a house. But the housewife continued to pressure the UP member because she did not get a house assigned by the government.

The last disaster occurred on September 10. The accused UP member had sex with the housewife again. At that time, the housewife stopped him, but when he tried to rape her, the people around him came to his aid. The UP member fled at the time.

The housewife said: “When I recovered and went to present a case at the Bangra Bazar police station two days after the incident, the police officer on duty advised me to file a complaint in court without accepting the case. After filing the complaint on September 14, the court ordered Comilla PBI to investigate the incident and take the necessary legal action. But the field investigation has not yet begun.

However, UP member Mojibur Rahman denied the accusations against him, saying: “A selfish group in the area has conspired against me and brought a false case against the housewife.” I am not involved in all these incidents. The conspirators have brought four cases against me.

Deputy Inspector (SI) Shamim Mia, the investigating officer on the case, said: “I received a complaint from the court about the victim. You will be examined on the spot along with a medical examination and witness testimony will be taken. If the truth of the incident is discovered, legal action will be taken against the accused.

On Friday, the Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Bangra Bazar Police Station, Kamruzzaman Talukder, said: ‘I don’t know anything about this. No one has come to me to file a complaint of this type. Had it done so, legal action would have been taken subject to investigation.
