Opponents have shot dead Zahirul Islam Rezwan, 26, Secretary General of the Dighalia Union Chhatra League in Narail’s Lohagara upazila. The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. The deceased was identified as Zahirul Islam Rezwan, son of the late Sheikh Saiful of Dighalia village under the union of Dighalia of Lohagarh upazila.

According to locals, police and Rezwan’s relatives, Rezwan was on his way home from Dighalia Bazar around 8:30 pm on Friday. Along the way, on the Kumri-Dighalia road adjacent to Dighalia Bazar, rival terrorists attacked Rezwan with a sharp weapon. Zahirul Islam Rezwan’s left leg and left arm were cut off by a sharp weapon. The head and other parts of the body were cut and injured. The locals rushed to the scene and took him to Lohagarh Hospital around 8pm.

Village of Md. Kumri. Tuhin Sheikh and others said that Zahirul Islam Rezwan’s home is in Kumri village. He built a new house in the Dighalia area and lived there. He added that Rezwan died on the way to Narail Sadar hospital.

According to the locals, Rezwan was beaten to death due to previous hostilities for dominance in the area.

Lohagarh Police Station OC Syed Ashiqur Rahman confirmed the news of Zahirul Islam Rezwan’s death and said that efforts were being made to arrest those involved in the incident.
