Police arrested 34-year-old Moniruzzaman Chowdhury from Dhaka for killing Jannatul Ferdous Laboni, 29, in the cockpit of the Parabat-11 motorboat. Moniruzzaman confessed to killing Laboni after his arrest.

Moniruzzaman Chowdhury told police that he met Laboni in 2016. Laboni was married. Then a love story developed between them. Their relationship was not going well for some time.

A few days ago, Laboni launched a tour to visit Barisal. On Sunday, they boarded the Parabat-11 motorboat from Dhaka to go together to Barisal. There was a fight with Laboni in the cabin of the boat. At one point, he got angry, put a scarf around his neck, killed Laboni, and fled. Later, Moniruzzaman arrived in Dhaka by bus.

The arrested Moniruzzaman Chowdhury is an Uber rider by profession. He lives in the Darussalam area of ​​Mirpur-1 in Dhaka. Moniruzzaman is the father of a son.

On the other hand, Laboni is the daughter of Abdul Latif Mia and Mamtaz Chowdhury of Bhanga upazila from Faridpur. They currently live in Pallabi, Dhaka. Laboni’s husband is an electrician by profession. Laboni was the mother of two children.

Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from cabin number 391 of the Parabat-11 motorboat, which was arriving in Barisal from Dhaka in the early hours of Monday (September 14). Sadar Naval Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Alok Chowdhury filed a lawsuit against the unidentified persons. The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Sadar Naval Police Station, Abdullah Al Mamun, was appointed investigating officer for the case. In addition, various units of law enforcement agencies, including PBI, were helping to unravel the murder mystery.

The investigating officer for the case, Abdullah Al Mamun, officer in charge of the Sadar Naval Police, said that Abdul Latif Mia arrived in Barisal from Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon and identified the body as that of his daughter Laboni. After the autopsy, Laboni’s body was handed over to her family. Moniruzzaman, who was with Laboni, was identified by viewing CCTV footage of the launch. Moniruzzaman was arrested in a raid on Mirpur-1 in Dhaka on Tuesday night. Labani’s scarf and other belongings, including his mobile phone, were recovered from him at the time. He was taken to Barisal on Wednesday morning.

Abdullah Al Mamun said that during interrogation, Moniruzzaman Chowdhury confessed to killing Labani. Moniruzzaman Chowdhury was turned over to court on Wednesday afternoon. Moniruzzaman has been taken into custody for questioning to determine if Laboni was his wife or had an extramarital affair with him and why he was killed.
