A statement from the country’s Foreign Ministry said the moratorium would remain in effect until July 1.

The UAE Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the visa-free agreement with Israel would be suspended until July 1 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

‘Until the suspension date, Israeli citizens will be eligible for the visa to travel as before. It will also apply to citizens of the United Arab Emirates. ‘

Thousands of Israelis have traveled to the UAE in recent weeks. Both Israel and the United Arab Emirates have granted visa-free travel to citizens of the two countries as part of normalizing relations by mutual consent.

The United Arab Emirates is the only Muslim country that has a visa waiver agreement with Israel.

Earlier, on September 15 last year, the Trump administration brokered an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates. Later, Bahrain, Sudan and more recently Morocco followed the same path.

However, the Palestinians have been rejecting the normalization agreement from the beginning. They say the agreement ignores the rights of the Palestinians.
