Police arrested two young men for raping a mother and daughter in Chunarughat de Habiganj. They were arrested at their homes on Sunday (October 4) afternoon.
Those arrested are Shakil Mia, 22, son of Safiq Mia from the Deepchhara area of Chunarughat upazila, and his friend Harun Mia, 25, son of Rezzak Mia from the same area.
According to locals, a group of criminals robbed a housewife (45) and her daughter (25) while robbing a house in Ranigaon Union of Chunarughat Upazila on Friday morning. They then ransacked the house and fled. After the incident, the girl victim became a plaintiff and on Saturday night mentioned the names of 3 people and filed a case accusing unknown persons. Chunarughat police arrested the two young men at their home on Sunday afternoon in connection with the case.
Chunarughat OC Police Station (Investigation) Champak Dham said police had arrested two youths for their alleged involvement in the incident. They are trying to stop the rest. In addition, the victim’s mother and daughter have been sent to the 25-bed Habiganj hospital for a medical examination.
