Dhaka CID police arrested three people from Benapole and Jhikargachha on Wednesday on human trafficking charges. Later, the CID took them to the Benapole port police station.
Those arrested are Rafiqul Islam, 34, son of Alamgir Hossain from Raipur Village under Benapole Port Police Station, Shahin Ali, 28, from Dhanyakhola Village, and Biplob Ghosh, 31, son by Sunil Ghosh from Jhikargachha Police Station.
According to police sources, the arrested defendants also raped two women who had come to India illegally from Dhaka at a location in the Putkhali area of Benapole. The raped women were unable to enter India and returned to Dhaka and complained to the police about rape and trafficking. All three were arrested on the basis of these charges. Rafiqul Islam from the village of Raipur in Benapole on Sunday, Shahin Ali from the village of Dhanyakhola from the Benapole port police station on the same day and Biplob Ghosh, manager of Deep Enterprise at the Benapole checkpoint from the village of Jhikargachha Barakpur they were arrested by the Dhaka CID police on Wednesday morning. The CID police took them to the Benapole port police station on Wednesday afternoon to investigate after their arrest. Later, the defendants were taken to Dhaka by minibus at around 5pm on Wednesday.
According to a reliable source, the two complainants were trying to cross the border through a company called Deep Enterprise in Benapole.
In this regard, the owner of Deep Enterprise Dip Narayan said that, as far as I know, the arrested Rafiqul brought the girls from Dhaka. He mentioned the name of Biplob Ghosh, the manager of my organization, to the police. But it can be both traffic and violation.
ASI Murad Hossain, who is in charge of the Benapole port police station, said: “We do not know for sure about those arrested.” But maybe it could be a traffic charge.
OC Mamun Khan port police said: “I am not sure about this matter either.” Dhaka CID knows the details.
